Alt.Starfleet.Rpg (or ASR) was an Internet newsgroup until Google took over newsgroups and became Google Groups. More recently ASR has moved to the groups.io platform where players write interactive fiction based on the Star Trek universe, but extrapolated over 70 years years after Star Trek: The Next Generation. The players create characters and, together, develop stories about the ships, starbases, and crew. Founded in 1991, ASR had at its peak (1998) over 300 players across 40 active role-playing units organized into five fleets. ASR is much smaller now but still full of fun, creativity, and adventure.
Currently I have one player character (or PC) in ASR:
Dr. Lellis Cambol is the current Chief Medical Officer of the USS CIRCE. A human who grew up on Alpha Centauri and specializing in emergency medicine, she was most recently the Chief Resident, Emergency and Triage Unit, UFP Starfleet Field Hospital on Romit II, a humanitarian mission. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees on her native Alpha Centauri, then worked for years as a shipboard doctor-for-hire for commercial traders. After an incident while visiting her home planet, she applied for and was accepted into Starfleet's Officer Candidate School. She is worldly in her attitude and outlook, slightly jaded and cynical, and being relatively new to Starfleet life, struggles against bureaucracy and regulations. She occasionally rubs people the wrong way, especially those not used to her straightforward, "what you see is what you get" personality. Those who get to know her find her authentic nature refreshing; there is no need to guess what she thinks or feels because she will tell you.
I have seven PCs and six admin PCs who are currently inactive:
