This made for an interesting time when his father was stationed back to earth at Starfleet Academy to train students in Engineering and Propulsion systems. He grew up in and around Starfleet and had no doubts by the age of 13 that he would be a Starfleet Officer. During his Academy stay he realised that he loved the Marines and decided that would be his unit. His graduated 15 out of 700 from his class and wound up aboard a ship in GREEN fleet as a snot-nosed 2nd Lt in charge of Charlie Platoon Alpha Company. His training skills became apparent at this point. Promptly upon moving aboard the ship he fell in love with Joanna Blackenridge, the BETA shift Helm. They married and had one child, Mary. As time progressed Charles moved up in the ranks attaining the rank of LtMaj in short order and command of a Company of Marines on his new ship. Together with his wife they were trying to keep in low risk areas to better raise their daughter. But as the physical risks of Starfleet reared its head and claimed Joanna in a Borg attack. Charles was distraught by this and became burned out and unwilling to do much of anyhting. After counseling sessions it was decided that the best thing for him to do is train Ensigns. It seemed that this would leave a good vent for his grief. Still a Marine he seems tough to please, but gives out compliment enough to those who push themselves to do the very best they can. He expects nothing less of his trainees and attempts to develop scenarios that fit with that theme. His favorite statement is from the Marines of old, "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome."
