Julianna Monica Sforza (nee Brennan; Julie to most) was born to John and Dara Brennan, one of a pair of fraternal twins and the only girl in the family. She grew up loving the theatre, becoming heavily involved in amateur theatrics in Brighton. Parallel to those interests, she showed aptitude in understanding and empathising with others, and was attracted to the study of psychology.
After graduation from SF Academy in 2400, she was assigned to the USS ALABAMA as a staff counselor. She was promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade) a year later.
Her career was advancing smoothly when, early in 2404, Matt Sforza, one of her Academy classmates, introduced her to his older brother, Brian. It was almost love at first sight. They fell passionately in love, and, although she had just been promoted to Lieutenant and posted to the USS PHILADELPHIA, within months they were discussing spending the rest of their lives together. Three agonizing years later, she finally got a posting at SB ALPHA in COMPA's Office, and Brian and Julie were married. Although she knew that her base-side posting may not be the best way of trying to achieve her own command, she was very happy on SB ALPHA, where Brian had opened his own restaurant.
In 2408, upon the transfer of her supervising officer, she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and succeeded him as Deputy Director of Recruitment Literature for COMPA's Office.
Early in 2409, Julie received a summons from ADM Jefferson Lee, the Commander-in-Chief of Star Fleet. Upon reporting, she was promoted to Commander and appointed to Commander, Star Fleet Records.

"What're you smiling about, Lyra?" asked Julie, her soft British accent showing a measure of amusement. "Something came in for you, Commander," the receptionist replied. "I left the PADD with the message on your desk." "Hmm. Mysterious." She nodded. "Thank you." As she walked down the hallway, she continued to think about her lunch meeting with her boss, CDOR Kensington, from which she had just returned. He had given her an excellent review on her work as Deputy Director of Recruitment Literature, and hinted that she was going somewhere. In all honesty, she had not given that comment much thought; she liked her job, and, at the moment, she had no reason to want to leave. She walked into her office, and indeed, there was a PADD waiting on her desk. She walked around and, settling down in her chair, she took a sip of her coffee, put the mug down, and picked up the PADD to read it. "BUPERS...." ----------------<<<<< INCOMING MESSAGE, BUPERS >>>>>-------------- TO: LCDR SFORZA, Julianna M., DDRL/COMPA FR: CAPT SPENCE, Edgar B., BUPERS, SB ALPHA CC: ADM LEE, Jefferson, CINCSF CDOR Kensington, Phillip, COMPA You are hereby directed and required to report to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Starfleet, SB ALPHA, and await further orders. --- CAPT Edgar B. Spence, BUPERS --------------<<<<< END INCOMING MESSAGE, BUPERS >>>>>------------ Julie almost dropped the PADD. "What...?" She reread her orders. And again. Yes. It definitely said the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Starfleet. ADM Jefferson Lee. She put the PADD down, exhaled deeply. What could the CINCSF possibly want with *me*? Well, she thought, orders are orders. She started examining her office, making mental notes about moving. Time: The next morning Scene: Front Office, CINCSF She stood in front of one of the panels, reexamining her uniform and trying to ignore the receptionist who stared at her in mild annoyance. Julie Sforza was nervous. Not quite as nervous as on her wedding day, but nervous nonetheless. Her husband Brian had teased her about her mental disheveled-ness the night before. "Don't worry about it, Jules! If it were something bad, you would've heard about it before." His voice in her mind made her smile. She turned to look at the receptionist, who quickly looked down at the PADDwork on which he was working. It had seemed an eternity when, as Julie was about to stand and start pacing again, the receptionist's comm panel chimed. "The Admiral will see you now, Commander." "Thank you, Lieutenant." Julie stood, straightening her uniform jacket for what seemed like the millionth time. She walked up to the doors, which slid open to admit her to the office of the most powerful man in Starfleet. As the doors slid closed behind her, she came to attention in front of the desk. "Sforza, Julianna Monica, Lieutenant Commander, reporting as ordered, sir." (from Nagumo, 90209) She stood in front of one of the panels, reexamining her uniform and trying to ignore the receptionist who stared at her in mild annoyance. Julie Sforza was nervous. Not quite as nervous as on her wedding day, but nervous nonetheless. Her husband Brian had teased her about her mental disheveled-ness the night before. "Don't worry about it, Jules! "Sforza, Julianna Monica, Lieutenant Commander, reporting as ordered, sir." . . . . . . Admiral Jefferson Lee rose from his gleaming obsidian-and- mahogany desk, his not quite lanky form seeming to unfold into its tall-enough-to-notice full height, and extended his hand in combined greeting and gesture toward one of the two comfortable- looking chairs facing him. "Welcome to ALPHA, Commander," added a voice that was youthful enough to sound as though it might break, yet at the same time held a touch of depth that resonated somewhere in the listener's abdomen. Julianna Sforza realized at once how this man had stood out from an early age, and charmed the figurative pants off every man and woman he had met. Julie took in the legendary all-Terran features that had, for the first time, inspired waiting lists at the Starfleet Command College - the angular-yet-smooth lines of the jaw, brow, and cheek; the long, straight nose with its flared nostrils; the tight waves of dark hair close against the skull; the rich, smooth complection that spoke more of a beach on Risa, or the Caribbean, than an artificially lit office on a space station; the large, lustrous eyes of deep brown, with a dark grayish ring around the irises and a frame of long, sensuous lashes. Admiral Lee, Julie decided, was very much like an actor, cast by Fate in the role of Commander-in-Chief, Starfleet. She'd heard some of the rumors and stories about how he'd gotten the job - everything from a desperate concern with image on the part of a new Federation President and Council struggling against diplomatic fiascoes and internal ruptures, to less flattering speculations on "Mister Earth's" private pursuits with the influential and the powerful. An ironic insight suddenly came to her, that maybe people saw in Jefferson Lee's perfect and charming appearance whatever was in their own mind's eyes; the man was a mirror of the envy, or suspicion - or trusting good will - that was in the viewer's own heart. On that basis, Julianna Sforza decided to choose the last side of her own character to put forward, and see if the mirror worked both ways, and the C-in-C might reflect something pleasant back her way. "Thank you, Admiral," she said out loud, and took the offered seat. "Has anyone explained to you why I've asked for you?", Lee asked, smiling a brilliant smile that was boyish in its apologetic familiarity. "Frankly, no, Admiral." "Well, there's nothing sinister in it. Phil Kensington's had a lot of good things to say about your work, and when I told 'em all what I need around here, he and Admiral Crowell agreed you'd have even more to offer here than in Public Affairs." Julie had never even thought of COMPA as, "Phil", and even less considered that she might be a topic of discussion among her boss, the Chief of Starfleet Operations, and the C-in-C. She could hear Brian's voice, telling her it didn't surprise *him*, and suppressed a smile. Admiral Lee continued. "I've agreed with Imran Malkar for a long time that what we in the Federation lack is a proper historical view. Too often, we consume pre-packaged philosophies and conclusions like replicated dinners, without the benefits of assembling and preparing the ingredients ourselves at least once. "When I got settled into this chair, I quickly realized I couldn't do the things I wanted in that area myself, and knew damned well that Malkar wouldn't let me tie *him* down here. That's how it is that you find yourself requested and required, Commander, to assume the post of Starfleet Records Officer - COMREC - effective immediately. "That also includes a bump up to full Commmander, also as of right now. Congratulations, Commander Sforza." Julie rose to attention automatically when her superior officer stood from his chair, and had taken the warm, firm hand that stretched across the desk before she could think clearly enough to reply. "Thank you, Admiral. This is a complete surprise." "Well, I'm to blame for that, Commander," Lee smiled again, gesturing the new COMREC back to her seat. "I'd already gotten to feeling so far behind on this that I just wanted to *move*. You know what I mean?" "I - I believe so, sir." "Alright, then, to give you a little more of an idea of what's involved, it's a matter of assembling and developing good information for my use, and the general use of Starfleet Command. Stuff selected with a clear idea of using it to formulate good judgements and good decisions. Sort of the advertised intention behind so many of the old 'intelligence agencies' that promptly jumped off into cloak-and-dagger land. Covert information- gathering and security reconnaissance are other departments - I need someone to get me background information *I* want to see, and want the other brass-hats to see. Can you do that for me?" Julie knew that behind the charming twinkle in the almost Betazoid eyes, she was being sized up. It was time for her best "Starfleet officer" routine. "Yes, sir, Admiral - I can." "Good - I'm glad to hear it. Now, this means you have clearance and access to any information you may need - any. *That* means I'm going to need you to agree to routine recording of your movements and contacts - just like us brass-hats. It also means moving here to ALPHA; I honestly hope that won't be a problem for your family." "No, Admiral - that comes with the uniform." "Good. Now," said Lee, taking a PADD from a drawer built into the edge of his long, curving desk, "here are the first things I need you to look into. Please report on them tomorrow morning, and we can start going over anything you find you may need to discuss." Julie took the PADD, and palmed it for later examination. "Aye, Admiral." Lee rose, indicating the end of the interview; Julie noticed something she couldn't read at this angle was blinking on the C- in-C's desk display; it still awed her that perhaps a vital report on Borg activities or a skirmish with the Sidhe was being kept waiting for her. Offering his hand once more, the Admiral said, "Welcome aboard, Commander - I look forward to working with you." "Thank you Admiral; I'll do my best to be of service." An exchange of nods served as dismissal and farewell, and the new Records Officer of Starfleet headed out to find a comm link to her home, and almost missed the Lieutenant in the front office holding out a small velvet-covered box containing her new rank insignia. A smile on her face, Julie took the box and left the office suite, her thoughts on the challenges and the trust that had been granted to her. This was what Starfleet was all about - using one's gifts to make a difference. Commander Julianna Sforza was determined to do just that. . . . . . . [NRPG] All: Hey, I hope people are reading this. The "brass hats" have been informed, but I want everyone to know that ASR has a Records Officer, and that means we're going to have more and better reference materials for everyone's use. Please join me in welcoming Takako Nagumo to the COMREC position, and in pledging cooperation and support in her work. Takako: Sorry this is so late, but admin RP has to come last on the priority list. I'm excited about the work; let's get to it! . . . . . . *>--------------------------------------------------------------<* Mark G. Another year resulted in a transfer to the Office of the new Chief of Star Fleet Operations as Midori Takahashi's Liaison to COMREC.
She expected a fairly desk-bound career, which was good, on the one hand, in that she was able to stay with her husband, but bad on the other hand, in that it would never get her her own command. Changes in the administration made her think again about service on ships of the line. After talking these things over with Brian, they agreed that they would consider her taking on a Ship's Counselor position on condition that the ship also has an opening for a Ship's Cook. An opening on the ENDEAVOUR, a ship in Silver Fleet, seemed to fit the bill, and their application resulted in an offer for both of them.
Julie Sforza gives off an air of happy confidence, and most of the time, this is her natural state. As with many who are attracted to the stage, she goes through occasional bouts of doubts about her abilities and her worth. Her husband and best friend Brian is her best support. She has always had a sympathetic ear for her friends' problems; during her years as a counselor, she was happy to listen and sympathize with people off duty and provide them with sensitive counsel on duty. She does not have the hypersensitivity to others of her twin brother, but her eyes are sharp and her observation skills quite honed. Her naturally friendly and outgoing nature makes her more approachable than the average Ship's Counselor.
